Explosives found in car of suspect Thomas Matthew Crooks at rally

Authorities discovered explosives inside the vehicle of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally. Crooks was identified as the shooter by the FBI and was shot dead by Secret Service agents. Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that explosives were found inside the car Crooks parked near the rally site on Saturday.

In response to reports of suspicious packages, police dispatched bomb technicians to the area. Additionally, an AR-15 style semiautomatic rifle was found next to Crooks's body. Following the shooting, law enforcement vehicles surrounded Crooks's residence in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, along with a bomb squad, were present at the house.

Authorities conducted a thorough search of the residence throughout the night to ensure the area was secure. Interviews with Crooks's family were also conducted at the home. Crooks' neighbor, Dan Maloney, expressed disbelief at the events, stating that it was "insanity that anyone would do this." Maloney had initially planned to attend the rally.

The FBI has not yet provided a comment regarding the explosives found in Crooks's vehicle. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and further details may be revealed in the coming days. The attempted assassination has raised concerns about security measures at political events and the potential threats posed by individuals with extremist ideologies.
