On Saturday, a rocket attack on a soccer field in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights resulted in the death of at least 10 people and injured several others, including children. This attack came shortly after an Israeli airstrike on south Lebanon that killed three members of the militant Hezbollah group. As tensions escalated, fears of a broader conflict in the region rose.
Hezbollah denied the attack however Israeli officials refuted these claims, attributing the rocket launch to the Hezbollah terrorist organization. The Israeli military reported that all 10 people killed were between the ages of 10 and 20, with more than 20 others wounded.
The situation prompted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cut short his trip to the United States and return home. The Israeli military and paramedic services were on the scene to assist the wounded, with footage showing injured individuals being rushed to ambulances.
This incident is part of an ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with near-daily exchanges of fire. The recent escalation in violence has resulted in casualties on both sides, with Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon and rocket attacks by Hezbollah intensifying.
