Jay Cutler charged with DUI

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a handgun after a minor collision in Franklin, Tennessee. The 41-year-old was given a $5,000 bond and released, according to a statement from the Franklin Police Department.

Police responded to the accident and observed signs of alcohol consumption on Cutler, such as the smell of alcohol, blood-shot eyes, and slurred speech. Cutler refused a field sobriety test and was taken to a hospital for a blood sample after a search warrant was obtained. Additionally, two firearms, including a loaded pistol, were found in his car.

In addition to the DUI and handgun possession charges, Cutler was also charged with failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and violating implied consent. These charges are considered misdemeanors or civil offenses under Tennessee law.

Cutler had a successful 12-year career in the NFL, playing for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, and Miami Dolphins. He retired after the 2017 season with the Dolphins. Cutler was previously married to reality TV star Kristin Cavallari, but the couple announced their divorce in 2020.

The incident involving Cutler has brought attention to the issue of driving under the influence and the importance of responsible alcohol consumption. Cutler will have to face the legal consequences of his actions, and it remains to be seen how this incident will impact his reputation and future endeavors.
